There are two major categories of medication for erectile dysfunction: the “Sildenafil” category of medications, and the “Tadalafil” category of medications, or drugs used to treat and lower blood pressure in the body. Both of these categories of medications can interact with nitrates (for example, nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate), alpha-blockers (for example, vortioxetine), and other drugs that can lower blood pressure. The drugs discussed below are not intended for long-term use and are not FDA approved.
In addition to ED drugs, a variety of other medications for ED, including prescription and over-the-counter medications (including Cialis, Levitra, Stendra, and Viagra), as well as other drugs approved for treatment of ED, can interact with nitrates. These interactions include:

The Philippines’ government has approved the approval of the Viagra (sildenafil citrate) pill as a new treatment for erectile dysfunction, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday.
The approval of Viagra, the only other drug to treat impotence, is part of the “sildenafil” treatment plan, said the agency, which was established in September 1998.
The new drug is approved by the FDA for treatment in men with erectile dysfunction, but it won’t be approved until April 2019.

Drug Interactions:
Do not take SILDENAFIL with medications that contain nitrates (e.g. nitroglycerin, isosorbide) or with calcium channel-blockers (e.g. thioridazine, bevacizumab). Nitrates depleving into the body can be harmful to a human or veterinary product. Combining these should not be used with SILDENAFIL.
Use with caution in patients with severe liver or kidney disease or with severe heart disease. If you are taking nitrates or have a history of severe heart problems, kidney failure, or low levels of potassium in your blood, consult your doctor before using this product. Nitrates are a Class of medicine used to treat several different disorders, including hypertension, congestive heart failure, and cancer.
